WELCOME TO MY "GET AWAY" PLACE

Sometimes we need to have someplace to go to help our minds relax from all the stress we encounter. Believe me, I am no different, because there is "always something" going on. I love to go into my own little world to read and explore all the things people are doing with their talents in the art fields. I have learned so much in a short time by watching videos and reading blogs of very generous people who freely give of their time to share their art with others. Thank you to all of you. You have inspired me, and I hope as I continue to post on this blog, I may someday inspire you.

WHERE HAVE I BEEN?

Since I have last posted:

My husband had a total hip replacement, my son and his wife and son have moved into their new house. I went to the Novi craft show where I got to meet the fab. Tim Holtz!
(Yes he is as generous as everyone has mentioned and patient.)

Took a class with another fav. Wendy Vecchi! See the pictures. We made an awesome wall hanging.( Yes, she is as sweet as everyone has mentioned).
Had foot surgery and now I get to sit in a chair with my foot up for awahile. Whew!! I am out of breath!

I also prepared a recipe book using Graphic 45 papers. This is a class I am going to give when my foot gets better. A picture of that book is at the top of this post. So please do not give up on me. I will try to keep up with this blog better. I will post details on the class when those plans are finalized.

Another cold snow day

I guess I can be happy that I do not live out east. They are getting really blasted.

It has been crazy around here. My son and his family moved in while they are finishing their house. So there is always a buzz of activity going on. I did get to fit a few projects in. I did a few more pages in my fabric book. A picture frame done with a technique found in a book co-authored by Carol Wingert (love her art). And some glass coated with UTEE. If anyone wants to know how they are done, please e-mail me.

Some updates on a couple projects

It has been too long since I posted something. I just started a project. A fabric book journal. I have more to do on it so I will post this and then the finished picure. I also altered a cardboard box to store newspapers in to sit next to the fireplace. I covered this with various pictures and odds and ends of leftover papers. Then put tissue paper over it all. Wiped it down with walnut ink. I put silver tape through my cuttlebug inked that with alcohol inks and wraped it around the top edge and the middle. Tried to make it look like metal. I still need to put a sealer on it. But it will really serve the purpose that I intended it for. Hope this gives you some ideas

Another project finished

This was a project I finished that was started in the class I took from Suze Weinberg. It is an image that was transfered using hot wax. I mounted it on some background paper then framed it. The bird is embossed metal. This was a fun project. The wax gave it a vintage look, especially after I rubbed Perfect Pearls over it all.

A FUN WEEKEND

This past weekend I had the privilege of taking a two day class with Suze Weinberg. WOW! it was packed with Bees Wax and UTEE. The store was Scrappy Chic in Livonia, MI. This is a wonderful store with anything you could possibly need with competitive pricing. You must take time to visit if you are in the neighborhood. We made bees wax picture frames on Friday, then on Saturday we did UTEE all day. So much to learn. We could of been there all week and still not get it all. The class was super and I would recommend it.

Finally got the pictures to post and they came out sideways!!!!!! So sorry.

fabric friend book

I am trying to post a "friend book" I made. I used a couple of 3.5" diskettes, you know the ones we all have sitting around. And you know me...I don't throw ANYTHING away! I covered these disks with fabric and then punched a hole in the corner with the Big Bite (Croc-o-dile) punch. Inside the pages have various quotes devoted to friendship. The rest of the pages are blank that can be used for pictures or whatever........The last page has a little envelope to put something in. This was great fun. If I could figure out how to put a slide show on this blog I would....but me, not being computer savvy, will have to figure that out later. Right now my blog will not even let me post a picture. OH..... I need to figure this out! It is driving me crazy
