It has been too long since I posted something. I just started a project. A fabric book journal. I have more to do on it so I will post this and then the finished picure. I also altered a cardboard box to store newspapers in to sit next to the fireplace. I covered this with various pictures and odds and ends of leftover papers. Then put tissue paper over it all. Wiped it down with walnut ink. I put silver tape through my cuttlebug inked that with alcohol inks and wraped it around the top edge and the middle. Tried to make it look like metal. I still need to put a sealer on it. But it will really serve the purpose that I intended it for. Hope this gives you some ideas
WELCOME TO MY "GET AWAY" PLACE
Sometimes we need to have someplace to go to help our minds relax from all the stress we encounter. Believe me, I am no different, because there is "always something" going on. I love to go into my own little world to read and explore all the things people are doing with their talents in the art fields. I have learned so much in a short time by watching videos and reading blogs of very generous people who freely give of their time to share their art with others. Thank you to all of you. You have inspired me, and I hope as I continue to post on this blog, I may someday inspire you.

A FUN WEEKEND
This past weekend I had the privilege of taking a two day class with Suze Weinberg. WOW! it was packed with Bees Wax and UTEE. The store was Scrappy Chic in Livonia, MI. This is a wonderful store with anything you could possibly need with competitive pricing. You must take time to visit if you are in the neighborhood. We made bees wax picture frames on Friday, then on Saturday we did UTEE all day. So much to learn. We could of been there all week and still not get it all. The class was super and I would recommend it.

Started doing some new things
I finally finished some new projects. A good friend of mine was taking a trip to England and I made her a little journal for her to record her experiences. It was the first time I made a fabric covered journal
I also altered a picture of an old post office/store that just recently went out of business because of the economy. So sad. It was a very quaint place. This was done in a distressed look. Hope to keep my inspiration on a roll. I will post again tomorrow. As a side note I do want to thank the kind words about my dog Tasha. She was really special.

I will remember Tasha 1996-2009
Yesterday was a really bad day. One of my best friends died. My precious pet, Tasha. She was a wonderful, one of a kind dog. Never any trouble and she will be missed terribly. My heart is hurting |

Another attempt at hot wax frames
I think I am offically hooked on these hot wax frames. I picked up these two on the clearance table. Brought them home and sanded them up a bit. I put a layer of hot wax on first, then wrapped the frame in homemade paper I had sitting around. I then put another layer of hot wax on top. If you brush on the hot wax, you will need to fuse each layer with your heat gun. Just slightly until a shine comes up. If you use the hot wax stylus tool, you can skip that part as the tool does the work for you. Pretty neat huh? To embellish. I waxed a couple of slik leaves and then layered two flowers on top with a little bling. These I glued on with Aileens this holds on the wax. The other frame I just used some hinges from Tim Holtz grungeboard collection. I distressed them a little and put on a light coat of perfect pearls (copper). The knob is a wood bead with a brad, also brushed with perfect pearls. So simple, so fun.

Cyndi's Beeswax Projects Posted by: "Cyndi Szalma" http://us.mc820.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=clszalma@sbcglobal.net&Subject=cyndi61012 Thu Jan 15, 2009 7:35 am (PST) Thank you for the nice comments. These were the first things I ever posted, but I am hooked on bees wax!The mat was already a burgundy color. I just bees waxed a coating a few times fusing in between each. I then made four divisions (uneven) with the edge of the stylus. The top left corner has some color added (green wax) then I added an embellishment from Tim Holtz Grungeboard ideaology collection. That gave it the look I was looking for. On top of the swirl I kept adding beeswax so that it was encased. The other corner is beeswax drops with Pearl-Ex. The other two corners are impressions from a metal screen I had found. (This suggestion was actually my husbands!) The frame was an older wooden frame I had. On this I used brown and red crayons melted with the stylus. A brass stencil was used to indent for texture and I used the beeswax drops with Pearl- Ex also. I was really happy with the results.Cyndi[Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
