WELCOME TO MY "GET AWAY" PLACE

Sometimes we need to have someplace to go to help our minds relax from all the stress we encounter. Believe me, I am no different, because there is "always something" going on. I love to go into my own little world to read and explore all the things people are doing with their talents in the art fields. I have learned so much in a short time by watching videos and reading blogs of very generous people who freely give of their time to share their art with others. Thank you to all of you. You have inspired me, and I hope as I continue to post on this blog, I may someday inspire you.

Started doing some new things

I finally finished some new projects. A good friend of mine was taking a trip to England and I made her a little journal for her to record her experiences. It was the first time I made a fabric covered journal

I also altered a picture of an old post office/store that just recently went out of business because of the economy. So sad. It was a very quaint place. This was done in a distressed look. Hope to keep my inspiration on a roll. I will post again tomorrow. As a side note I do want to thank the kind words about my dog Tasha. She was really special.

I will remember Tasha 1996-2009

Yesterday was a really bad day. One of my best friends died. My precious pet, Tasha. She was a wonderful, one of a kind dog. Never any trouble and she will be missed terribly. My heart is hurting

Already the Middle of June

Can't believe summer is finally here. It was a long winter. My son and daughter-in-law will be with us for awhile as they are building there first home. I just came home from the dentist needing to redo a crown but also had a wisdom tooth pulled. Wow, can't say I felt any wiser. My husband had his job terminated. (Worked for a supplier for the car comanpies) OUCH! And my creative juice has dried up!. HELP i need inspiration!

I have been very bad at posting lately.
So I will show a few things I have been doing for the last
couple of months. A couple of vintage purses (which still needs
handles). Some tags, distressed and some waxed. And some
ATC's. The wax on the tags is applied very thin as they will crack
if applied too thick. I hope everyone will be patient with me as
I am very new to this blogging thing and am still learning how to
post and add pictures. Please enjoy and if you have comments please
feel free to get in touch with me.

Another attempt at hot wax frames

I think I am offically hooked on these hot wax frames. I picked up these two on the clearance table. Brought them home and sanded them up a bit. I put a layer of hot wax on first, then wrapped the frame in homemade paper I had sitting around. I then put another layer of hot wax on top. If you brush on the hot wax, you will need to fuse each layer with your heat gun. Just slightly until a shine comes up. If you use the hot wax stylus tool, you can skip that part as the tool does the work for you. Pretty neat huh? To embellish. I waxed a couple of slik leaves and then layered two flowers on top with a little bling. These I glued on with Aileens this holds on the wax. The other frame I just used some hinges from Tim Holtz grungeboard collection. I distressed them a little and put on a light coat of perfect pearls (copper). The knob is a wood bead with a brad, also brushed with perfect pearls. So simple, so fun.

Cyndi's Beeswax Projects

Thank you for the nice comments. These were the first things I ever posted, but I am hooked on bees wax!The mat was already a burgundy color. I just bees waxed a coating a few times fusing in between each. I then made four divisions (uneven) with the edge of the stylus. The top left corner has some color added (green wax) then I added an embellishment from Tim Holtz Grungeboard ideaology collection. That gave it the look I was looking for. On top of the swirl I kept adding beeswax so that it was encased. The other corner is beeswax drops with Pearl-Ex. The other two corners are impressions from a metal screen I had found. (This suggestion was actually my husbands!) The frame was an older wooden frame I had. On this I used brown and red crayons melted with the stylus. A brass stencil was used to indent for texture and I used the beeswax drops with Pearl- Ex also. I was really happy with the results.Cyndi[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
